Recycling Wax is high.

Hey there,
How are you doing? Once again, I'm writing this from an ICE train. Kathi and I have been awake for 16 hours, played a 4-hour club set in between, freshened up in a train station bathroom in Gdańsk, and the moment we arrived back in Germany, trains were delayed, and Kathi had something stuck in her eye. So yeah, lots of chaos. But none of that is stopping me from feeding you once again with newschool and oldschool techno. Let's get started:
Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.
Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.
On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.
What’s in my Bag? - A peek into recent gig selections, new digs, and timeless records.

#1 Obscure Shape & Maharti - Clergy Splits 02: It seems like the split record concept is back. Honestly, I think it's brilliant. Various Artists records can be difficult because every artist brings their own style, which can sometimes result in only one interesting track on the whole record. But what about split records? Almost like a battle. SHDW even called his series on Mutual Rytm "VERSUS". I really like the concept, although I don't see it as a battle at all, but rather as a simple division. Clergy Splits 02 brings back the feeling of older techno from the 2010s on both sides of the record. Sure, the tracks would already have been considered quite fast back then, but this tooly and timeless approach just works for me. As we say in Germany: "Someone really put some thought into this!" Absolute TIP! | #2 Dold - Caricia 003: What can I say? This alias gets me every single time. As if Dold could produce every genre imaginable. This time, Caricia gives us a very sunny, almost after-hours-style record. Honestly, it completely hits my taste. I don't even know how he does it, but this slightly overdriven bassline adds a bit of distortion and dirt while somehow still sounding incredibly clean inside all that dirt. You can hear it particularly well on A1. I think a really good mixing desk plays a role in that. If you don't buy this, you're missing out. |

Honestly, the first Mark Broom record I personally don't like. Strange feeling when you think about how many unbelievably good releases he's put out over the years. I have no idea how he does it, but someone clearly understands production on another level. And it's the same with Reality Check EP. One of those "I buy this record blindly" records. Seriously, every track pushes differently. My favorite is "Reality Check", the title track of the EP. I'm absolutely in love with these Detroit dub chords at the moment. Why can't I come up with patterns this genius when producing? Well, that's just how it goes. Good thing Mark Broom exists! |

#1 DJ ESP - The Power Hour Remixes: Before our gig at Crackhouse Gdańsk, Kathi and I spent a day in Berlin and naturally headed straight to Spacehall right when they opened. And if there's one thing I love, it's digging through unsorted stacks of records and suddenly finding four records from my wantlist. Four! I'll be honest: I usually don't like posting records that are still on my wantlist. I'm happy to present them once they're actually in my collection. Until then, I'm protective of my food! Hahaha. But jokes aside, with DJ ESP and "The Power Hour", Woody McBride released an absolute monster back then. And you know what? Besides the original mix, there's also a remix that I absolutely love. It's the remix by Woody McBride himself, his actual name. Well, I think it's actually Woodrow if I remember correctly. DJ ESP is simply an absolute legend with a ton of history behind him. I'm really glad I got to meet him last year, or maybe even at the very beginning of this year. | #2 DJ DMC - Trackmasters: Damn, I just nodded off for a minute while sitting here! Hahaha. But I'm going to keep writing until the bitter end. Now I want to show you a record that actually dropped off my wantlist at first, but after a bit of research, quickly found its way back onto it. I already own a Dance Mania release by DJ DMC called Trackmasters with the catalog number DM 110. Pretty normal. But I always wondered why there was a white label version carrying the catalog number DM 098. Apparently, it was never officially released. Even better for me and for us because this record absolutely slams. DM 110 is not the same as DM 098. And honestly, I just love Dance Mania white labels. |

3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

#1 Gockel - Resilience EP: The guy is back with another set of bangers. Please, man, stop making records this good. Top-notch sound once again. I honestly can't put into words how much Gockel's sound resonates with me. And now he's releasing on Soil Trax, a label that already made an incredible start with Augusto Taito's Antihero EP. Four tracks and four locked grooves. Not a single weak moment on the record. I genuinely don't understand how that's possible. Where did you suddenly come from? How quickly do you make your tracks? How long have you been producing? We need answers, Gockel! Please get in touch so you can answer these exact questions in Behind the Booth. Soil Trax, keep going. Two releases, two absolutely fantastic records so far. Huge potential. Coming July 3rd. MUST-HAVE RECORD. | #2 Kilotoni - Marviken: I swear, I don't have any partnership with this label. I know exactly as much about the people behind Kilotoni as Discogs and everybody else does! Hahaha. But just like every previous release, it follows the same consistent structure. A1 gives us a massive old-school dry acid weapon. A2 brings a classic EBM arpeggiator synth, this time with a seriously huge vocal. Then the B-side delivers loose and cheeky Detroit sounds. It gets me every single time, and yes, I'm buying this Kilotoni release too. If you're reading this, Kilotoni: please, I want the WAV files. I'll buy every single release anyway!! Coming out June 19th, 2026. Already pre-ordered for Black Plastic Record Store in Dortmund. |

#3 HMC - Acid Trac EP: Already the reissue of the year 2026. Reflector already sold plenty of copies back in 2015 with 6 AM / Marauder, and rightly so. DJ HMC, the Australian legend, built some of the hardest tracks imaginable with a 303 back in the 90s. If you don't buy this, it's your own fault. Three unbelievable classics on one record, all originally released on Dirty House Records, if I remember correctly. And the A1 and B-side tracks alone come from a record that's currently worth around €40-50. So grab it. I couldn't find a release date, so setting up an email reminder is definitely worth it. | #4 HMC - Digits / Science Funktion: Nothing to add. |
4. What’s in my Bag? - A peek into recent gig selections, new digs, and timeless records.
Today I want to show you another record I picked up at Spacehall, one that had fortunately been sitting on my wantlist for quite some time.
Christian Borée was an alias of Christian Pilz, and what an alias it was. Not a huge number of releases, but whenever something came out, it was always quality material.
We're talking about a very deep, driving sound here, with a mixdown that sounds incredibly analog and beautiful. I can easily imagine these tracks being recorded to tape before ending up on vinyl.
Naturally, I also brought this record with me to Poland and Crackhouse. Unfortunately, the right moment for it never arrived that night.
So I'll bring it with me again next time and hope for the perfect opportunity to play such a banger.
Either way, I didn't want to keep his music, and this four-track EP was built entirely around the concept of "No Filler Only Killer" from you.
