Recycling Wax is eating duck.

Hey there,

Here is the first short newsletter.

I hope you all had a lovely evening yesterday, spent time with your loved ones, and maybe even partied a bit?

Today is Christmas Day, and I’m playing at my beloved Junkyard in Dortmund.

I need to be careful not to eat too much so I can still manage to stay awake in the evening, hahaha.

In these short newsletters, I only cover one category, so today the table of contents is very short:

  1. Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.

#1 Ecilo - Phantom Vision: Crazy, I’m just reading through the release description right now, because honestly, I had never heard of this label before. From Indonesia. How interesting, because it actually feels closer to Spanish techno. Somehow different, more playful, with arpeggiators. You don’t hear that too often in hypnotic techno. Nevertheless, regardless of its origin, this record is a perfectly coherent, timeless piece, exactly as promised in the description. First release, straight from the label head himself. I wish you all the very best for your label launch. Topping the first release will be a challenge – this one is already a killer!

#2 Exos - Sweet Dreams: Wow, the first album on Mutual Rytm. First of all, the design: killer. Amazing colors, great combinations. That Marco chose Exos for the first album doesn’t surprise me at all, but it makes this even more exciting. The Icelander is simply the go-to address when it comes to atmosphere in techno tracks. What a warm sound. Every track is a highlight, a perfect blend of hypnotic, dark, electro, tribal, ambient, and experimental elements. BIG TIP!

#3 DisX3 - Resonance Studies: In the last newsletter, I actually also wrote about Alexander Kowalski, or rather DisX3. This time, however, we’re hearing a new production by Alex, released on Mord. Four uncompromising techno bangers, timeless classics already. While the A-side is very brutal, the B-side is a bit more bleepy, a bit more tribal, a bit more playful. I like it a lot!

#4 Benales - Tar LP 3: I don’t mean to sound disrespectful, but with Tar Hallow, it’s initially almost irrelevant to me who the producer is releasing there. Thanos from Rotterdam curates this label so incredibly well, always finding the best possible tracks on the market. And so I’m hearing Benales for the first time: 10 tracks that completely smash and form a beautifully cohesive album. Bleepy, reduced, and usually just two synthesizers constantly communicating with each other. One of the best labels out there!

#5 Vainqueur - Reduction 1995 - 1997: Repress alert! Yes, yes, René Löwe aka Vanqueur released four EPs and one album on Chain Reaction between 1995 and 1997, and selected tracks from that era were compiled into an album in 2018. This album, freshly remastered, is back again. Dub techno at its best. Definitely not to be missed!

A short intermezzo, but we’ve already reached the end.

The next issue will be out on 01.01.2026. It will also be a shorter one, but the quality remains the same!

Have a great start into the new year, skip the fireworks (I think that explains itself), and don’t go too crazy! We’ll read each other soon! :-)

And don’t forget: keep sending me your favorite track or record. Simply reply to this email or comment here with a link to your favorite E.P.

Catch you next week! Be ready to drop the needle on my next picks.

Keep it spinning,
Robin Tasi @ Recycling Wax
