Recycling Wax is planning something.

Hey there,
Normally, I always write on Mondays, but I’m a bit on edge right now. I’m trying to find a solution to print a label for each record. If there’s one thing I absolutely hate, it’s having to look at records sideways on a shelf. I actually want to view my collection like in a record store, standing upright, so I can flip through them from above. But: not enough space!
To avoid pulling out each record sideways, I want to attach labels. But I also don’t want to have to look up and enter every release individually. Anyway, that’s just for context. Looks like there is a solution.
So, today we’re bringing back a long-standing category that hasn’t appeared here in quite some time: On the Horizon. I told you I’d keep checking for new releases, but I can’t fill this category every week if the upcoming records don’t fully convince me. I only want to present what I genuinely like and what I’d actually listen to myself, without being disrespectful to any artist or genre.
But first, let’s begin as usual, as follows:
Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.
Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.
On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.
Top 5 by Unknown - A handpicked selection, carefully curated each week by DJs.
Community Pick of the Week by Mika - One favorite from the community.

#1 Various Artists - Downtown Dubs: Oh… my… god… what… an… insanely good release is this??? I just read that the label is brand new and celebrating its vinyl debut with this Various Artists compilation. I didn’t know them before, but the design reminded me a bit of an older Rosati record. Not always, but often, beautiful covers go hand in hand with amazing music. And that’s definitely the case here. Gockel is apparently from Regensburg and, according to Instagram, has been producing since 2012. This is the first time I’ve heard of him, but holy hell, what a phenomenal start for this label! I’m absolutely blown away. My favorite track, hands down, is “Ecilo – Fundamental Selector”; it shoots me into space and back again, that’s how incredible it is. The record is limited to 300 copies and pressed on orange vinyl, which must look great with the white label. The tracklist looks hand-stamped, showing how much thought went into every detail. A brilliant EP all around, each track tells its own story. Even though Various Artists releases often risk being too diverse (which can make you only really care about one or two tracks, influencing your decision to buy), this one feels like a cohesive EP from five artists who are completely in sync. Absolutely amazing, best of luck to Gockel going forward! MUST HAVE! | #2 Various Artists - Frenzy Various Artist IV: Unlike Patent, Frenzy is already a heavyweight and has been around for a while. Now, the fourth edition of their Various Artists series has been released on vinyl. I’ve held the previous releases in my hands and have to say: the quality is exceptional. Beautifully pressed, great design, strong layout, and solid tracks from top-notch artists. So cool that Markantonio is part of it, his label Analytic Trail, and his early 2000s tracks are still unforgettable. A double vinyl that’s pure fun and offers plenty of variety. Tip! |

I have to say, the cover isn’t really my style, but the tracks from A1 to B3 absolutely bang. No overly complicated acid lines, just smart, tight, sometimes even playful arrangements like on “Happiness Calculator”. I feel like Acidulant has a bit of that Anthony Rother vibe. A completely successful EP, and no wonder it’s already almost sold out! |
2. Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.

#1 User - 003A: To be completely honest, I’m currently trying to buy every single User release listed exactly as such on Discogs. Whether it’s a promo, like the white label version of Release X, or the original pressing, I honestly don’t care. I just want to own them all. When my order of 14 User records arrived today, I added them all to my Discogs account and noticed that I was still missing USER001A, 002A, and 003A. I also realized I hadn’t listened to them in ages, since I couldn’t even recall what they sounded like. Then I stopped at 003A and played the A1 track. Holy hell, what a banger! That thing hits hard. I had to order it right away and luckily found a seller in Germany. Hopefully it’ll arrive before Saturday, because I’m playing an All Night Long gig in Hannover. I’ll let you know next time whether it arrived in time, and how it went off in the club. A clear buy recommendation for anyone who’s into uncompromising, driving techno. | #2 Tyree - Da Soul Revival #3: Tyree Cooper is an absolute legend, of course, from the U.S., and when it comes to house, it can only be Chicago or New York. While both scenes have their own distinctive styles, Tyree makes it crystal clear in his productions where his roots lie. The Chicago native has always fascinated me. As you already know, I’m a huge Dance Mania Records fan, a label Tyree has also released on, so he’s been on my radar for a long time. His record “Nuthin Wrong” has been a staple in my collection for over ten years; it was a regular in club sets back in the early 2010s. I never really wanted to pay the full price for the original pressing, though, since Nuthin Wrong (the track I love most on the record, though all four tracks are excellent) was also repressed at a lower price, and you can even get it digitally via Strut. But 16 days ago, I finally went for it, and I don’t regret it one bit. A true gem of the house scene and an absolutely fantastic track. MUST HAVE! |
![]() © discogs.com | #3 Mould Impression - 1994: Adam Beyer is probably, unintentionally, one of the most controversial producers in the techno scene. While the newer crowd tends to say, “That’s commercial, not underground” (no joke, I’ve actually heard that), the older heads and real techno nerds reply, “Hold up, you’re judging too quickly.” Beyer released some incredible records in the late ’90s and early 2000s. His Mould Impression alias is another example, especially the track “1994”, which is nothing short of a techno milestone. On the B-side, you’ll also find “Margans Bass”, which samples Morgan’s “Flowerchild”. The record’s median price is around €6.90, so it’s not even expensive. Even better! BIG TIP! |
3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

#1 Dimi Angelis - NECH034: Nechto Records is back. I have to admit, I just googled the label because, although I’ve mentioned it before, I never really had it on my radar. So Nastia is running the label, straight out of Kyiv. Great tools, a well-produced EP all around, perfect for the layering DJs. I have to say, “Haze” is my favorite track. All the songs carry a certain hardness, but also a depth and softness at the same time. Clear purchase recommendation! | #2 DJ Funk / Manatane - In Memory Of DJ Funk: Now we come to a DJ and producer who sadly passed away this year. I was honestly shocked when I saw the photo from the hospital. DJ Funk has left us, but the music lives on. For over 30 years, he showed what Chicago is made of, absolutely killing it every time! A true legend on vinyl, and I hope his music keeps being played for thousands of times to come. Manatane delivers two tracks that sound brutally good and carry that raw Juke energy! RIP Legend! Release date: November 27, 2025 |

#3 Various Artists - FW25/26: This Various Artists release is by far the best of the year. BY FAR! No matter which track you pick from the 3x12” vinyl LP, it bangs hard! Personally, I love the B1, “Dynamic Forces - ms4”; it really reminds me of “Envoy - Dark Manoeuvres”, right?? €38 is a steal, this one belongs in every record bag! Release date: December 1, 2025 | #4 Cosimo Damiano - Breaks The Shell: Spazio Disponibile, an absolutely incredible label from Italy, run by the maestro himself, aka Donato Scaramuzzi, aka Donato mf Dozzy and Giuseppe Tillieci (Neel), drops another strong record. Dark, deep, atmospheric, and with a touch of experimental sound. I really like this one; a solid EP overall. Out next week, November 10, 2025! |

Holgi Star - Starwars: Ah, yes, I still remember holding my first Kiddaz.fm record in my hands. I was never quite sure whether it was top or flop, because the label has always been pretty unpredictable when it comes to my taste. Honestly, every release is top-notch in terms of production, but the EPs or albums go to such extremes that I never find them just “okay” or “average.” It’s either really good or really bad.
The label, run by Holgi Star and DJ Emerson, comes from Berlin. I actually have a few DJ Emerson records at home, and especially Dave Shokh – Shokh ‘N’ Roll really won me over. A brilliant EP, and surprisingly cheap!
But let’s talk about Starwars: this LP is absolutely top, top, top! It starts with an incredible intro that really reminds me of Half-Life 1. It sounds a bit like the voice of a scientist right before the alien outbreak, talking to Gordon Freeman and explaining what he has to do in that mysterious room. And after the intro, it really kicks off! Relentless, pounding, tribal, with vocals, everything’s there! An all-around killer record. I don’t even own it yet, and right now it’s going for only €3.13, which is a total steal!
And what did Mika himself write in the email? Let’s see:
“Hey, I’ve got another great record here :) A classic, hits hard, full of energy, just awesome.”
Nothing more to add to that. Thanks again, Mika, for sending such a great record!
We’ve flown through the newsletter pretty quickly this time, but it was fun as always! See you again next week?
