1. Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.

#1 Cybonix - Make This Party Live: Let’s kick things off with an electro heavyweight. Originally released back in 1997, we now have the rare chance to grab a reissue of this milestone, but probably only for a limited time. The original pressing is seriously expensive, so better act fast while you still can. No filler, only killer! | #2 AUX88 - Alpha Waves: Geographically, we haven’t moved far with the second record. AUX88 captured the essence of Detroit early on. Rhythm, minimalism, and depth. No surprise this release is top-notch once again. Tommy Hamilton and BJ Smith have delivered the goods, making one thing crystal clear: If you want to play electro, there's no way around AUX88. And that’s exactly how it should be. Big Tip! |

#3 Exos - Clean Cut: Iceland’s own Arnvidur Snorrason, better known as Exos, is back. And how! One idea, one impulse, and Clean Cut kicks things off with two different versions, plus remixes by Danny Wabbit and Lars Huismann. What’s inside? Old-school D’n’B-inspired loops, funky stabs, and straight-up uncompromising techno. And let’s not forget: the record looks great, too. A solid release all around! | #4 Ricardo Villalobos - Salvador Part I / III: Even though we’ve already included the Salvador series, this Ricardo Villalobos reissue deserves a special mention. Almost every Villalobos release deserves a mention. Nobody crafts magic quite like Ricardo has for decades, and Part 1 of 3 is yet another reminder of that. Driving, funky minimal that originally came out on Frisbee, now back and freshly reissued. Don’t sleep on this one! |
![]() © bandcamp.com | #5 Various Artists - FUGA IV: We wrap up the first category with a truly strong and most of all, cohesive Various Artists release on Token. Compilations like this can easily fall apart when too many voices clash. But not here. This one feels like it’s cut from the same cloth, or as we said back then: "like a vinyl made from a single mold." I honestly can’t decide which track is my favorite. Can you? |
2. Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.

#1 DJ Ogi - Balota EP: This week is all about being uncompromising. And what label embodies that spirit more than Compressed? Michael Burkat’s former imprint stood for pure hardness, and DJ Ogi’s dark and pounding release is no exception. Discogs might tag it as Hard Techno and Schranz, but I’d still count it as Techno (Then again, subgenre debates always stir up differing opinions). I played Ruzina to death back in the day, so much so that I couldn’t hear it anymore. But I recently dug it back out from the depths of my collection… and yep, it still bangs. | #2 DJ Misjah - Rocket EP: Next up: a hero of the Dutch techno scene: DJ Misjah. Into Rockets is one of those tracks I just never get tired of. And to be honest, I always hear the voice as if it's saying in German: "Ab durch den Laden”, which roughly translates to: "Let’s go through the club!” MUST-HAVE! |

#3 Various - Unusual Suspects Volume One: In 2007, the scene was shifting. Tribal Techno was fading, and Minimal was taking over. But Naked Lunch wasn’t playing along just yet. One track in particular grabbed me: DJ Link –Ban Bang. Dark, driving, and relentless. Add heavy fog, a strobe light, and this track, pure ecstasy. Try it for yourself. | #4 Jack-Tronic - The Hustler: And here we are again, at one of electronic music’s most iconic labels: Peacefrog Records. This time, with none other than Luke Slater, aka Planetary Assault Systems, behind the controls. Minimalistic in structure, yet still bursting with energy, even with the distortion-drenched drums, you can feel the pulse. I’ve had this one sitting in my cart for over a week. Still haven’t hit “Buy” (how dumb). How about you? |
![]() © discogs.com | #5 Technasia & DJ Skull - Passages Vol. 1: I once got lucky and picked up some records from Fredy Isken, a former resident DJ at the legendary Dortmund club Soundgarden. One of those gems was an old Technasia & DJ Skull record. And yep, it’s an acid storm. That 303 just flies straight at you. Acid Wiss L came out on Djax-Up-Beats, and it deserved to be pressed more than once. Big tip! |
3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

#1 Marck D - Get Ready: Planet Rhythm shows no signs of slowing down. One banging EP after another. This time with Marck D, bringing a super funky vibe. Short stabs, quick vocal cuts, and tons of groove. A strong release from start to finish. I honestly can’t pick a favorite track. BIG TIP! Release date: July 18, 2025. | #2 Tarkno & Remco Beekwilder - Sketches EP Part 1: One of the rising stars of the techno scene is Australian producer Tarkno. In his Telekom Electronic Beats video, he explained the origin of his name: It’s simply ‘Techno” said with an Aussie accent. The Sketches EP is a collaboration with none other than Remco Beekwilder, and I think we all agree: Remco doesn’t need much introduction after over a decade of quality in the scene. Congrats on this killer EP! Release date: August 22, 2025. |
![]() © decks.de | #3 The Advent, G Flame, Truncate - Passive Aggressive: Last but not least: PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. A new EP from Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent, US producer Truncate, and G Flame (another alias of Cisco). Honestly, nothing changes here, and that’s exactly what we want. Heavy tracks. Solid remix. No compromises. A must-have! Limited Edition. It will be released on 18th July 2025. |
4. The Perfect Match - Two tracks that blend seamlessly in a set.
“Hello, my name is Oliver. And I’m gonna tell you… a story!” - A true legend in music history, none other than Oliver Chesler aka The Horrorist. And perfectly complemented by The Godfather of Hardcore himself: Marc Acardipane. Hard, raw, and uncompromising. A massive bassline and a mission unlike any other.
Back in 2018, I realized how seamlessly this remix blends into a set, especially when paired with a track by Henry Cullen, aka D.A.V.E. The Drummer. It’s the perfect transition: from a deep, low-end-heavy track into something fast, forward, and hard-hitting like Seen The Future.
Honestly, I’d still play them back-to-back just like that today. Maybe I should again sometime… right?

#5 Anthony Rother - Redlight District: What would any proper Electro list be without Anthony Rother? To me, the man from Hessen, Germany, is a guaranteed source of quality music. His tracks have depth, ideas, and real creativity. | #4 Underground Resistance - The Final Frontier: Mad Mike is simply the king. Sure, this track has millions of YouTube plays and is well-known, but honestly, it’s one of those songs where the numbers make sense. Close your eyes and listen. You’ll always find something new hidden inside. I usually play this one when I’m on the train, kicking off my holiday after work. There was a repress recently, but of course… instantly sold out. Keep an eye on Deejay.de. Maybe another one is coming. I don’t want to live without this record anymore. |

#3 Zeta Reticula - EP2 Untitled A1: What can I say? Umek could do Electro, too. Is there anything the Slovenian couldn’t do? I’m listening to this track right now while writing, and it still gives me maximum goosebumps. That slow, rising synth is just breathtaking. It’s always the simple tracks that hit me the hardest. No gimmicks. Just raw power. MUST-HAVE! | #2 MAS 2008 - I See You: MAS 2008 is the insider tip when it comes to Electro. Funny thing: the duo is from Dortmund. I had a real fanboy moment with one of them: Ive Müller, now known as Heimelektronik. Still active in the Dortmund scene as both producer and DJ. They just knew how to make the SH-101 dance. Ive and René don’t produce together anymore, but that passion from back then? Still clearly present today. |
![]() © discogs.com | #1 The Advent - Ero: And for once, picking my number 1 was really easy. Kombination Research always had techno-heavy A-sides and electro-driven B-sides. And Ero? I’ve been playing that track for years. As soon as that sharp synth kicks in, the crowd goes wild. I’m listening to it right now and yep… still the right choice for my number one. I’m off dancing with the cats, and you better go listen to this track immediately. You’re missing out otherwise! |
6. Community Pick of the Week by Dennis - One favorite from the community.

Truncate - Concentrate / Focus: This week’s Community Pick comes from my good friend Dennis. Back in 2015, we even ran our label together, and back then, whether it was in his car, his apartment, or anywhere else, there was only one thing playing: Techno!
I still remember clearly how he told me about discovering this track. Dennis was once again digging at Spacehall, the legendary record store on Zossener Straße in Berlin-Kreuzberg. As always, on the hunt for fresh records for his gigs, headphones on, fully immersed in new finds until he briefly took them off and heard a store employee playing Truncate - Focus V1 over the speakers.
He went straight to the counter to ask for the record. “It’s not released yet, and we don't even have a price.”, they said. But you know the feeling: you hear a track that hits you so hard, you just have to have it, no matter what. So Dennis kept persuading the staff until they eventually handed over the copy. What a moment!
And ever since, this track has become something that instantly reminds me of Dennis. And I know that will never change. Thanks, Dennis, for sharing this story and this incredible tune with us in this week’s Community Pick of the Week!
And that wraps up the fifth edition of my newsletter.
