Recycling Wax is watching your peaktime performance!

Hey there, welcome to the third post! This week’s Top 5 is a personal one. We’re spotlighting someone who knows exactly how to move a dance floor - whether it’s peak energy or deep-dive mode. Meet Krackk: a Dortmund-based DJ, Junkyard resident, and yes - full disclosure - she’s also my partner in crime (and in life). Get ready for five tracks that hit hard in all the right places. We begin with:

  1. Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.

  2. Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.

  3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

  4. The Perfect Match - Two tracks that blend seamlessly in a set.

  5. Top 5 by Krackk - A handpicked selection, carefully curated each week by DJ’s.

  6. Community Pick of the Week by Santino - One favorite from the community.

1. Recent Cuts - Fresh vinyl and digital releases worth checking out.

#1 Percy X - X TRAK 1 & 2: Beginning the recent category with a reissue from 1995. Anthony Scott MacKinnon aka Edit Select aka PERCY X with an excellent dubby stabs synthesizer perfect matching 909 pattern. TRAK 1 is perfect for closing, and TRAK 2 is perfect for opening.

#2 Uväll - THE VOID EP: Groove Jungle with its first release ever. A new beginning by Stego from Bochum, NRW.  Incoming Uväll, the Tbilisi based rising star in the scene! Congratulations on your project Stego, looks promising and def a big win for Bochum and NRW!!!

#3 Not A Headliner - Fake Tricks: Let‘s talk about: ambivalence. It means having mixed or conflicting feelings about something - feeling both positive and negative emotions at the same time. While the A-Side didn’t quite land for me, the B-side hit instantly - goosebumps. Jose brings a new characteristic vibe into the electronic music scene. It‘s super variable, it’s super interesting and he has a wide range of skills to produce different kinds of subgenres. Keep up the good work!

#4 Christoph Faust - A Late Summer Night EP: Oh yeah, you’re listening to feveeeeeer One Oh Five (ad lips: feveeeeeeer one‘oh five!). The house project of Christoph is insane. So much love, passion, and musical understanding with amazing technical skills for every detail inside. Do not miss his techno side as Inhalt Der Nacht. BIG TIP!

#5 Markus Suckut - Moments: From Velbert to Brüssels. Proper Techno from Nordrhine-Westphalia! But Markus is always delivering proper heat. He is for real a DJ / Producer who should get more attention to what he‘s doing. Nice guy, we were talking in a panel discussion about the music scene in 2022 (I guess) and he is also a very very nice guy! :-)

2. Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.

#1 Sven Väth - Dein Schweiss: I don’t know why, but I’ve been fascinated by listening to music on VIVA Television (a music channel) since kindergarten. One evening, my mother let me stay up later than usual. That’s when I saw CLUB ROTATION with Daisy Dee for the first time. From that moment on, I watched Club Rotation every weekend. I was 8 years old when they played “Dein Schweiss” on TV. In 2015, I went to Berghain for the first and only time, standing in the so-called “Dead Corner” and dancing to Marco’s (SHDW) set. He dropped that track and made the whole afternoon unforgettable. Since then, I’ve always included it in my sets. I was telling him this story last year when we played on the Antea x Mutual Rytm Party @ Oma Doris, Dortmund (because I was playing it (as usual hahaha)).Thanks for the memory, Marco!

#2 The Horrorist - The Virus: Pure genius. Pure power. Honestly, I’ve been thinking about legendary artists in history. The ones who did something no one else had done before. True GOATs. They come with a certain madness, but also a unique brilliance.

In this song, The Horrorist somehow spoke about COVID-19 in 2001?! Oh and if you want to visit this legend: he runs a restaurant / oyster bar called VOLK in Berlin Mitte together with his wife!

#3 Johannes Heil - Die Eigene Achse: The perfect Intro to start your peak time set to go crazy with the crowd doesn‘t exi… - While the A-Side gives the more creepy vibes, the B-Side has it’s starting monologue in a vocoder voice. MUST HAVE FROM 2000!

#4 Monika Kruse @ Voodooamt - Needlehopper: And here is a perfect example of why Recycling Wax is also a project for myself: I didn’t know I had that record. Monika Kruse started in 1991 and is still active in the scene. A big big inspiration. She made her way in a male-dominated scene and rose to the top.

#5 Question - 8th Question: Tribal techno at its best. Marco Carola and the label Question know exactly how the vibe is written. Perfect for open-air playtimes to dance in the sun. Thank you for this record Marco and please come back to your roots hehe!

3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

#1 Various Artists - AW001 [Anothr World]: Alongside Groove Jungle from Bochum, anoth(e)r label from Dortmund (!!!) is about to open its gates, debuting with a VA featuring Hemka and Casual Treatment, joined by Mario aka Verschwender aka the handsome Italian from North Rhine-Westphalia (dude, are you living in Essen?!?) and my old studio m8 Robin aka Røstom from Dortmund. A great EP with a strong vision and beautiful artwork. Congrats Basti on your new imprint! Release date: July 4th, 2025!

#2 Lewis Fautzi - Unwritten Chapters LP: Hold on a second, Lewis Fautzi isn’t the slightest bit ashamed of dropping an LP like this? Man, this one goes absolutely through the roof. What a massive album from a DJ and producer who’s always stayed true to his sound and just keeps delivering. BIG BIG TIP!! Release date: 04th July 2025.

#3 DJ Misjah - Access EP: Acid Techno classics on Planet Rhythm. Mischa aka DJ Misjah wrote a posting on Facebook „If you buy it, we will do several records“. Highly recommended acid bangers from the 90s! Release date: July 4th, 2025!

4. The Perfect Match - Two tracks that blend seamlessly in a set.

Tribal and Ghetto is my new combination. While Ghetto is minimalist, usually just a vocal, a bassline, a kick, a clap, and a stabbing synth, Tribal often starts with a full drum pattern and brings more energy. Fast mixing skills are required, but it’s worth it. Just drop D-Vice by Marco Bailey from 2004 right after DJ Milton’s “Don’t Care” from 1996 on Dance Mania Records. Keep the fader at 100%, and let it play from the beginning. The crowd will love it!

5. Top 5 by Krackk (Stigmata Edition) - A handpicked selection, carefully curated each week.

Katharina, known artistically in and outside of Germany under the name “Krackk” has a special connection to the Stigmata records. Not only does she own all of them, but she also regularly plays them in her sets.

Founded in 1999, André Walter and Chris Liebing aka Stigmata brought Techno and Schranz from Frankfurt am Main to clubs around the world. At the end of 2004 / beginning of 2005, André continued Stigmata as a solo project and kindly uploaded the entire discography to Bandcamp.

6. Community Pick of the Week by Santino - One favorite from the community.

Makaton & Max Duley - This Is Not A Photo Opportunity: This week‘s community pick is about a split EP with an ebm‘ish & industrial characteristic vibe on the A-Side by Makaton, followed by a tool techno oldschool B-Side by Max Duley. Funny contrary sides, but both with their touch and perfectly fit together. Released in 2002 @ Rodz-Konez. Thank you Santino for bringing the heat to this category! Much appreciate!

Third week, third post. Have you followed my Spotify playlist yet? Let me know what record you’ve got on repeat - you could be featured as my next community pick!
