Rosati – Slipstream EP: The Italian DJ & Producer from Italy based in Amsterdam is curating his second EP on his own imprint “Global Pulse” with raw and unpolished energy of the late ’90s in a modern techno scenario. He showed me this EP while having some Beers in Amsterdam and was instantly impressed by this sick work.

DJ Swisherman – Street Tactics: About two years ago, I noticed that the oldschool tribal is coming back slowly in the UK. But there’s another rising star in the scene from Galicia, Spain named Joaquín Crespo Miraz aka DJ Swisherman. This funky EP is a comeback to the roots of our beloved tribal sound.

Various Artists – Puolla Volume 2: Finland's finest Dub Techno by Notta Records from Tampera is one for the books. Personally, this brings me into a vibe full of hot chocolate, a wooden house and lots of snow outside. Insane!

Casual Treatment & Jonas Kopp – CO.LAB EP: Uff. The label owner Casual Treatment is back and bringing a huge name on his new imprint. I remember the mid 2010s when Jonas Kopp was releasing a bunch of tracks. No Filler Only Killer. ‘As usual’ we said. Still nothing changed, also in this collab.

Inner City – Ahnonghay: Inner City was, is and will be a huge influence to me when it comes to Detroit Sound. The Dave Clarke Remix, originally pressed on Music Man in 1994, is one of the best remixes you should get from them. Played by Sven Väth @ his legendary HR3 Clubnight set 1995, Schwalmstadt. MUST HAVE!

2. Essential Oldschool - Records from the 90s and early 2000s that still matter today.

Woody McBride – Come In…: Whether DJ ESP, 4D or Voltage 9, Woody dominated the Minneapolis Acid Techno Scene. The perfect combination between this legend and a legendary label like Bush in 1996. For me personally, a hero. My friend Justin and I were stoked in 2017 when we asked him for a podcast for our series. And he did it. And it’s a classic since day one.

Oliver Ho – The Dreamer And The Dream: Light And Dark, a label Hector Oaks showed me in the mid 2010s @ Record Loft, Adalbertstraße in Berlin. The owner, Oliver Ho, had the vision to release dancefloor 4-to-the-floor structured songs, ending with a deconstruction into beatless soundscapes. Perfect song at the end of your set!

Planetary Assault Systems – Planetary Funk Vol. 3 (Visit To Pro-Form III): Luke Slater’s releases started at the UK based label Peacefrog Records. While “In From The Night” is shining as the top seller of “Planetary Funk” series, this EP is a forgotten one which should be played in every club around the world. Rarely to find, rarely to hear, but still a timeless piece of wavetables from 1994.

Andreas Krämer & Thomas Pogadl – So Wie Es Immer War: Hard, driving, nasty, oldschool. Andreas and Thomas, two guys from Germany, released this beauty in 2001 on the own label of Andreas called “Construct Rhythm”. “So Wie Es Immer War” (engl.: just like it always was) giving me the vibe how a bunker with strobe and dirtiness should be! And that’s definitely how we like it, right?

Chester Beatty – FBS – Fastbackstyle: If I’m thinking about the Japanese Techno Scene, I am thinking about Chester! I love the style this producer mixed the tracks. You recognize the sound from miles away. Can’t be without it! Also, the vocals of Part 2 of the record sounds a bit like “FORTNITE”. Hahaha instantly wanna game again.

3. On the Horizon - Upcoming releases to keep an eye on.

PYLOT – Tar 33: TH Tar Hallow, founded by Thanos Hana from Rotterdam, is one of the best finds while searching new releases for the stacks @ Black Plastic record store in in my hometown Dortmund. Insane release and TH has sparked my interest with the album of Decka. Uncompromising techno everytime! Release date: 27th June 2025!

Dylan Fogarty & Cult – absys techno: The irish tribal is back as mentioned. And this two dudes are one of the reason why Ireland is back on the tribal techno map. Amazing split EP, congrats to you both on a new imprint called Absys Records! Release: 4th July 2025!

1Morning – Soul Patch: If you thought that USA is just about Hip Hop & Rap nowadays, you should definitely take a listen to 1Morning. Los Angeles finest Techno DJ & Producer. Was checking his mixes several times and can’t stop listening! Will be released on 12th September 2025!

4. The Perfect Match - Two tracks that blend seamlessly in a set.

I’ve checked my Rekord Box list and found a history from New Years Eve from 2018 into 2019. Inside, there is James Ruskin’s Alias named “Outline” with the song “Encounter” on Blueprint in 1996. Perfectly matching with Radial, a techno producer duo from the Netherlands. Their song “Shinoba” which was released on Planet Rhythm in 2008 as a split EP with Bas Mooy. This is my perfect match since 7 years now.

Mike Dearborn – ONE: Mike James Dearborn from Chicago is one of my GOATS when it comes to Acid Techno from the 1990s. BUT: he was also producing music without the THREE’O’THREE. My favorite pick of the EP is “Keep Fighting”, rolling Bassline and completely hypnotic to me. Floor Heater!

Samuel L. Session – A Bastards Work Is Never Done: Do I like it deep? Yes. Do I like it low end? Yes. Do I like it percussive? Yes. Samuel Larsson from Sweden has this type of groove you don’t find in any other songs. Every song feels like a warm welcome for my ears. You should not miss “Tribe Cut”. He is actually re-releasing his tunes on Bandcamp. Check them out!

User – 006A: Dean Cole is a must have. There is no chance to miss a song of his in my sets. And I would definitely miss something, if he did not exist. Thank you for your music!

Andrei Morant – Bots [Female]: I am playing this song round (a)bo(u)t 6 years now. It’s that repetitive vibe, the hard hitting kick and of course that vocal which keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning around my head. Round botbotbotbotbotbotbotbot!

Steve Stoll – Run It EP: A long time friend, Dennis (who helps me with this newsletter) and I were meeting at his flat in The Hague in 2024 and were thinking about one special song we listened to back in the days – day by day. I remember when he said “it was a red cover and the synth was like this!” and he imitated the synth of the B-Side with his mouth and somehow I got the name of the EP. We will never ever forget this amazing EP by Steve Stoll and we will go to a tattoo artist together and get the label code PROPS 036 tattooed.

6. Community Pick of the Week by Sebastian - One favorite from the community.

Big Daddy Rick – Angry Electro: Excellent driving and yet funky electro with a touch of swing and shaking rhythm from the mid 1990s. Released on Bass Force, a label from Detroit by Rick Wade. The Vinyl starts at 25€ on Discogs from Germany, but it’s also available on mp3 via junodownload. Thank you Sebastian for sending this banger!

And that's it for the first week post. Let me know if you enjoyed it? Keep me updated with your favorite record and maybe you’re in my community pick of the week next time.
